Today was the big day for Mary. Here are some pictures:
We arrived at Madison Surgery Center at 8:20 a.m. Nana sits with Mary (in her jammies) and "big orange kitty cat" in the lobby.
Daddy plays with Mary in the exam room.
We were in the exam room for about an hour and a half (ugh).
She looked so cute in her gown!
Mary and her bunny on the "nap bed." I told her she was going to the surgery center to take a big nap. After being in the exam room for so long, she was ready for the nap and kept telling us to turn the light off! She wasn't scared at all; what a big girl!
Back at home having a snack.
The doctor made the incision in her left eyelid, pulled the eyelid up and extracted the cyst (which was about the size of a big nickel). She has stitches on both ends of her eyelid and lots of swelling and bruising (from all the pulling and stretching to reach the cyst). Now the hard part is keeping her from touching her eye. We go back to the eye doctor next week, and she will remove the stitches then. The only bad part of the day was when Mary was waking up after the surgery. Lots of tears, confusion, and pain. The nurse had to give her pain medicine through her IV (Mama shed some tears, too). However, now she's doing well, acting normally, and having a good time visiting with Nana (who is always a big help).
Thank you so much for praying for us during this time. Please keep us in your prayers as Mary recovers this week.
