Thanks for all your help, Mikey!

We said goodbye to Uncle Mikey yesterday (sniffle, sniffle). He's been staying with us since Saturday, and Mikey was a big help with Mary. We'll miss you, little brother!

Mary is sleeping in this morning. She usually wakes up after 12 hours, almost on the dot! But she's still sleeping, which gives Mommy a chance to get some things done around the house (and on the internet).

Stephen and I think we've narrowed down our approach/method to home education. After much prayer and research, we're going to give Mary a Christian Classical education with some ideas from Charlotte Mason mixed in here and there (we like her ideas for art, music, and hymn studies). Christian Classical education (CCE) teaches children the trivium with a Biblical worldview. The trivium is basically learning how to learn. Dorothy Sayers wrote a wonderful (and well-known) essay on the need to return to classical education (this method was popular in the Medievel times), which can be read here (it's quite lengthy, though; don't say I didn't warn you). And yes, Mary will study Latin (gasp!). Our family is very excited about giving our little girl a Christian Classical education at home. I know it's early to think about these things, but we'll need all the time God is giving us to prepare. CCE doesn't have a set curriculum; we can't just order a first grade box packed with teachers' guides and a syllabus. We'll have to create the curriculum ourselves, which is a little daunting, yet very liberating at the same time. Please keep us in your prayers as we embark on this wonderful journey of home education!

Oh! She's waking up, better run. Have a great weekend!
