Today officially starts my birthday week! We don't actually celebrate all week, but it's just fun to say that this is my "birthday week." My Grandpa Y. always sends his gift a week or so early, and this year was no exception. With his gift, we were able to buy Mary her very own bookshelf! A bookshelf? That doesn't sound so great to you, does it? But in this house, a bookshelf is a BIG deal! I searched and searched for the perfect one, and I believe I found it. Unfortunately, everyone else must also think it's perfect because the shelf is on backorder. It should be here by early October. Now we just need some books! We put Mary in her new Old Fashioned Trade Show wooden rocking chair this morning. I don't think she knows what's going on yet, but she didn't cry in it, so that's good.
Stephen played with Mary in her new jumper again this morning, too. He said she seemed to like it a little better today.

This week is pretty busy for us: we have two church socials this coming weekend, a date night (woo-hoo!), and we have to squeeze in time to celebrate my turning 28 years old. Stephen and I go on one date night a month, usually in the beginning of the month since that's when we were married (June 2). Last month we went to our church cafe (I promise we don't spend ALL of our time at church), and the chicken tenders and fries were delicious. After we ate, we walked a few laps on the indoor walking track. This might seem boring to some, but it was very special to us. Towards the end of our pregnancy last spring, Stephen and I walked on that track almost every night. We shared some of our best conversations while walking. Memories.... So it was very special when we did that together again last month. September is my month to choose the restaurant, and I think I'm going to opt for a repeat of last month. We had such a nice, relaxing time together that I want to do it all over again! The church cafe recently got a face-lift and will re-open for business tomorrow morning; I just hope they still have chicken tenders on the menu.
