Great Birthday Weekend

Well, it's Sunday, so my birthday is officially over... we had a very nice weekend to celebrate my turning 28 years old. Friday morning Mary, Ruth (Stephen's mom), and I checked out Kid's Kloset, a big consignment sale held twice a year on the fairgrounds. I must not be very good at this kind of shopping yet; I only picked out three shirts for Mary. Most of the other moms had laundry baskets full of stuff, oh well... Saturday afternoon (my birthday) we went to the orchestra social at the Madison County Nature Trail up on Green Mountain. It was a beautiful day to spend up there by the lake, eventhough it was a bit muggy and our homemade dessert nearly melted. That night Stephen's parents took us out for dinner (Five Guys Burgers and Fries - delicious!), and then we went back to their house to eat the traditional birthday cookie. Mary hung in there like a champ; she made it through our busy weekend unscathed - except for missing a few naps along the way.

My youngest brother, Mikey, is staying the week with us while our parents are volunteering to help out on the Mississippi coast and in Texas. Unfortunately, his X-Box broke last night. This is a nightmare for a 12 year-old boy in a house with no t.v. (he brought one to use with his game system, but now it's useless since it doesn't have rabbit ears and we don't have cable). He and my husband are trying to find a box to ship it back to Microsoft. Apparently, this sort of thing happens on a regular basis, since Mikey knows exactly what to do to get it fixed (which doesn't make me feel like running out and buying an X-Box). Anyway, that's our weekend. This coming week isn't too busy, but we do have a dentist appointment (gasp!) tomorrow. Stephen is SO excited about getting his teeth clean - it's insane! I, like most people, HATE going to the dentist, so much so that I haven't been in YEARS! I know, I know, I'm going tomorrow... We're dropping off Mikey and the little one at her grandparents' house and then facing the music around 12:30 p.m. I'll let you know how it goes... if I make it back in one piece...
