We stopped by the new house during its inspection this morning. The inspector said there were no major problems so far - whew! Here are some pictures of the inside of our hopefully future home:
I'm in the top living room with my back to the fire place. Down the hall with the light on are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen and dining room are to the right. That light you see hanging down is above the entry way. When you first walk into the house, you're on a little landing, and you can either come up a few stairs to the top floor, or down a couple stairs to the bottom floor. On the bottom floor, there is the entrance to the garage, the laundry room, guest suite (bathroom and bedroom sectioned off with its own door and little hallway - perfect for long family visits!), and the family den.
I'm standing in the kitchen looking out into the dining room. The door to the deck is to the left. This little desk area is a nice feature; I can picture a little lamp and our laptop set up here. (I hope that chair is included with the house; I really like it and it looks great there!)
The kitchen. Mary is checking out the cabinets. The only thing we're going to change right away is the refrigerator. We're going to swap it with the one (that I love) in this house (it's white and will match the rest of the appliances). I've never used a stove like this one before, but it looks easy to keep clean. The oven is in the wall to the left, and it must be the original (total throwback to the '70s). There is also a little nook to the left with counter space. I'm thinking we'll put a small tabletop microwave there. I love the microwave in our house now, but it's a big one that belongs above a stove, so it will have to stay. There is also a pantry next to nook, right before you enter the dining room behind me. The windows above the sink look out into the backyard - love this!
This is the upstairs living room. The hallway is behind me and the kitchen is to the left. The stairs to the landing and front door are to the right. One of the very first things we're going to have to do on move-in day (if we do get the house) is install a safety gate at the top of the stairs. Mary already took a little tumble this morning, so I'm definitely convinced that it's an immediate necessity (there seem to be a lot of little immediate necessities, like shower rods and shower curtains and such).
In other news, Anna's appointment went well. Her pediatrician (who is fantastic, by the way) said he was impressed that two parents who aren't that big could have such big kids! Both of our girls have been in the 75-90% for all their stuff (weight, height, etc.). I honestly believe it's because of the vitamins I've been taking for so long. As soon as we found out we were pregnant with Mary I started taking them, and I've been on them ever since; the company is really outstanding.
Well, it's been a very busy morning, and I should go be productive while I still have a little bit of energy left. We should have the final inspection report tonight or in the morning. I'll keep ya updated!!

Beautiful! I have a stove like it if you'd like some tips or to read a owner's manual.
It looks fantastic! I'm so glad the inspection checked out ok!
Can't wait to see it in person one day!
Sarah
