Weekend Update

Friday night Mary received her AWANA Puggles certificate at a special awards night at church. She had a wonderful time in Puggles, and Stephen and I enjoyed teaching her class. Next year, Stephen plans to help out in Cubbies, while I stay home with Anna. The following year, I'm planning on asking to volunteer again in Puggles with Anna's class. We like being with the girls in class and getting to know their friends. This is such a sweet age for both of them!

After we got home Friday night, I received some very, very sad news that my Grandma Y. had passed away. Grandma and I were very close and she was a big part of my life; Mary is even named after her. We talked on the phone every Wednesday, and she sent the girls a little happy in the mail once a week. She was an absolutely excellent grandma and great-grandma. I have a big hole in my heart right now, and I really just don't want to say much else about it.

The next day, we went to a friend's birthday party at Brown Farm and picked strawberries. We all had a great time. This was Mary's first birthday party for a friend, so I wasn't sure how she would do with watching someone else open presents. She did just fine, and she loved the special goody bag that the precious birthday girl gave her as we were leaving.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the girls had their first music lesson Friday morning. The classes were so fun, and Mary learned a lot! She's been having pretend music class at home all weekend, and she can sing her do-re-mi now. Anna almost fell asleep in her class; I had to bounce her pretty vigorously to keep her awake. Oh well, it was still fun!
