I took Mary to the opera last night, and she was such a good girl! She didn't say a word during the performance, and she stayed awake the whole time (which surprised me, since it started after her bedtime). She LOVED it! I was happily surprised to see subtitles appear on the screen, which made it a little easier to enjoy (not that the opera was hard to enjoy at all; it really is fun once you get into it!). But, obviously, Mary can't read yet, and she still sat quietly and was fascinated by the beautiful singing and music. We left at intermission, which was two hours into it, but I really enjoyed it too. It reminded me of my grandma in California. When I was little she would take me to all these great productions, and we would always leave in intermission! I miss you, Grandma Y. I thought a lot about you tonight, and thank you so much for taking me to the theater growing up. I definitely think we'll be doing this again!
