We had a busy time in Fulton this past weekend. We went to two weddings and a 90th birthday party for my grandfather. We also managed to squeeze in a little time with my family. My grandmother made a cute dress for Mary before we got there. It was very easy to make, and she was gracious enough to give this beginning seamstress the pattern. This is the dress in purple. I added the buttons and lace at the bottom. Love it! I'm going to make her Easter dress from this same pattern tonight. My grandmother said it only took about 30 minutes to make it, so that means maybe and hour for me (she used to make ALL of her own clothes - she's a real pro).
I'm also posting a picture of Mary with her books. This is by far my daughter's favorite thing to do - read! Well, look at the pictures while Mommy reads, but still, she likes it! I pray that her fascination with books will continue throughout her whole life. Right now she keeps picking out books with animals for me to read to her. She laughs at the animal sounds, especially the cow. One of her favorites is Are You My Mother? by P. D. Eastman, originally published in 1960 (wow!). Classics never go out of style.
Mary is doing well... new teeth are on the horizon, lots of drool. I usually keep a bib on her when she gets like this (although I take it off for pictures, of course). We've started giving her a wider variety of finger foods. She likes kiwi, baked apples, and bananas as little snacks. However, she had a really hard time getting the slippery finger foods into her mouth. We fixed our problem by grinding up raw almonds and rolling the food in it before we give it to her. Viola! Healthy snacks made ever healthier, and no more frustration for Mary! Her favorite food though is still cheese. She starts clapping and smiling whenever she sees the block of cheddar. My little mouse...
Our church is doing a big Easter production this weekend. Stephen, being a member of the orchestra, will be busy every night the rest of this week. Mary and I plan on having quiet nights, followed by dress-making or reading after she goes down for the night. Very relaxing.
Have a wonderful Easter. He is Risen!
