Mary's birthday isn't officially until this Tuesday, but with Easter next weekend, we decided to have the party a little early. On Saturday, the grandparents came over to celebrate Mary's 3rd birthday with us! Mary, of course, dressed for the occasion in her hot pink tutu dress and ballet bow. Each year we let the girls have a Baskin Robbin's ice cream cake, and this year Mary picked Cinderella as her theme (we're going to see Cinderella at the VBC Playhouse in two weeks, so she's been on a Cinderella kick lately). As soon as we showed her the cake, all she wanted were the toys on top. No cake, just toys. So, the birthday girl never even tasted her cookies and cream ice cream cake! Anna slept through the entire party, so she didn't get any either. Poor girls! Grandmother and Granddaddy gave Mary Knuffle Bunny Free book and a Knuffle Bunny doll. This is one of Mary's favorite story book characters, and she's been dragging Knuffle Bunny around with her ever since the party. The Thorns gave Mary a ballerina book and her very own ballet bag to take to her lessons, which start in June. It even has her name embroidered on it! Pretty neat! Stephen and I got her some Peanuts bendable figures (she loves Snoopy) and an opera book for children. Some presents are waiting to be opened until her actual birthday, but this is just a quick run-down of the party highlights (I know family members have been waiting for this post; sorry to take so long). :) Oh, and Anna got some sweet "sister gifts," as we call them. She loves her new Poky Little Puppy doll and books. We all had a great time, and as fun as the presents were, the best part was visiting with family. I still can't believe my little girl is almost three!
