Labor Day Pictures

We went to visit my family in Mississippi for the holiday, and we all had a great time! My parents live in Fulton, which is a very small town (3,300 people), and they just recently opened this great park downtown right off the square. Funny story about how it came to be: a very wealthy family from New York City had a huuuuuge house built for when they come to visit their family in Fulton (complete with maids' quarters and its own walking track). Along with the gigantic house comes an enormous brick privacy wall (to hid the nice walking track). This house and its not-so-friendly brick wall are situated just off the main road in town, so it's kindly an eye soar to the residents (and creates some envy, to be honest, because those types of houses just don't belong in Itawamba County). Well, people got a little upset with the construction and they got to talking, as people tend to do. The wealthy family heard about it, and I suppose they didn't want to be sneered at when they came to visit, so they donated 1.5 million dollars to the city for this wonderful park, complete with a splash pad, community gazebo, and two playgrounds. That's the story of Fulton's new park. Residents don't seem to mind the privacy wall much anymore. :)

The top picture was taken at a park in Tupelo, the bottom two are of the new park in Fulton.

We all had a great time, and spent lots of time outside at the parks. Mary loves the water and is not afraid at all to try new things and run and play. We got back very late last night, so we're letting the girls sleep in, which is nice. They need it. I'll try to post some more pictures soon.

Have a great week!
