Prayer Requests & Praises

I know some of you are prayer warriors, and I have some prayer requests I'd like to throw out here:

1. We took the girls to the doctor yesterday, and Mary has a dermoid cyst above her left eye. Dr. Jeff says it needs to be surgically removed before it grows over her eye (or something like that; when he mentioned the words "plastic" and "surgeon" my mind shut off). Mary already has an appointment next Wednesday with a pediatric opthamologist specialist to look at her lazy eye (our third eye doctor for her), and Dr. Jeff says she may be able to handle it. If not, we're to call him back and he'll make us an appointment with a plastic surgeon.

2. Dr. Jeff also noticed Anna's heart murmur yesterday, which means the two holes in her heart are still there. This condition is known as Ventricular Septal Defect, and we saw the pediatric cardiologist about it the day we took Anna home from the hospital. We were hoping the holes would be closed by now, but . . . Anna has a follow-up appointment in June with the pediatric cardiologist.

3. My parents leave for Haiti tomorrow. They're on the Disaster Relief team and will be helping in Haiti for one week. My mom says the place where they're staying is okay, but the location where they will be working (as a medical team) is not so good/safe.

4. Tonight we are travelling to Mississippi for the first time as a family of four. There is soooo much to do to prepare for the journey! Why am I on the computer?!?! (why? because I need your prayers) Please pray for a safe trip for us and cold weather (the air conditioner in our van doesn't work, and we will be miserable travelling for hours in a hot van). We're driving to the Mississippi Delta for Stephen's grandmother's 92nd birthday party!

Those are the biggies. Thank you in advance if you happen to remember us in your prayers. Hopefully I'll have some great pictures to post next week!

Now for the praises:

1. At 2 months old, Anna is a robust 13 pounds 7 ounces! She's in the 97th percentile for her weight! She is much bigger than Mary was at this age. We're just so happy that she's gaining weight and thriving. Dr. Jeff said to keep up the good work. :)

2. Anna slept through the night last night for the first time ever! Not just any old normal "slept through the night." I mean 9 HOURS! Woo-hoo! Perhaps we've turned a corner on our sleeping, but if not, I'm still so thankful to God for giving me uninterrupted sleep last night. He always gives me just what I need when I need it!

3. Mary is getting the hang of not whispering during our quiet time! She only whispered once - ONCE! - in 40 minutes!

Thanks for letting me share what God is doing in our family, and thanks again for praying for us. Need to run, lots to do and pack. Have a great weekend!

We'll be lifting y'all up! You so should do a post (since you have TONS of time :) ) about how you worked up your quiet time with Mary. I'd love to know! That's one reason I don't want to use time outs as correction, quiet time need to be a positive or at least do-able situation for little ones.
Isn't it amazing how much of that comes down to teaching your children self control? :)

Proverbs 25:28

28 Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

Melody,
I came to your blog from Julie Rodgers and I am glad I did. Our son Ben has a dermoid cyst over his eye that we are getting removed next month by a surgeon and he also has a lazy eye we are correcting. Please let me know if you have any questions as we have been through the same things.
