First, thank you for praying for our family during this time. We just came home from the eye doctor specialist and here's the report:
Mary does have a lazy left eye (knew that), and she is farsighted (didn't know that). The doctor almost prescribed glasses for her on the spot, but she said Mary is "borderline," so we'll do the patch first. Mary has to wear a patch over her good eye for three hours everyday. If the patch doesn't rectify the situation, then we'll move up to the glasses.
Now, about that dermoid cyst. . . yes, that's definitely what that hard bump is (never doubted Dr. Jeff, but it's nice to have it confirmed by a specialist). She will remove the cyst on April 12 by making an incision in the crease of Mary's eyelid and pulling it out (or something like that - minimal scarring). None of this information was new to me, but then the doctor dropped a bombshell: Mary's eyes are tilting. Tilting?! Still unsure of what that means, but the doctor said that while she's operating on Mary she's going to take the opportunity to check out her eye muscles. If she doesn't like what she sees, Mary will then have to have eye muscle surgery. Poor girl!
Have to run, more later, including pictures and a post about our trip. Please continue to lift us up in prayer as we start patching Mary tomorrow morning.
