We just got back from the doctor for Mary's check-up. She's doing great! Our little girl now weighs over 21 pounds, which the doctor said is in the 90% for her age. I told Stephen that people probably think we feed her cookies and cake all day! She got a little injection under the skin of her left arm to test for TB. The nurse asked me to hover over her legs and other arm in case she started flailing around from the shot. Mary didn't even flinch! Nothing. Nada. She's always been very good about shots; on the visits where she's gotten BIG shots, she usually stops crying before we even leave the exam room (mamas will brag about anything!).

I'm having a friend over for lunch tomorrow. We're having homemade chili (my secret recipe!), but Stephen and I ate all the Fritos already! Mary and I stopped by Wal-Mart on the way home to pick up some more, and I happened to see that Wal-Mart sold kale - for less than $1! What a great deal! Kale has become a dinnertime essential for Mary; we mix it in her rice and lentil porridge. I also picked up a watermelon for her to try, and I'm SO excited about it! Stephen and I both love watermelon, so I'm anxious to see what the little one will think about it. I tried to get it all ready this afternoon, but it has to be frozen in

orange juice to preserve the taste, so I'll have to wait until we buy some orange juice on Saturday (our grocery shopping day). Stephen usually does the grocery shopping alone, so it's been a while since Mary and I have been in Wal-Mart. I put her in the cart seat for the first time - she LOVED it! She started smiling
really big at everyone; she was so proud that she was riding in the cart! I drove very slowly at first so she could get used to it, but then I picked up the pace (because people were really starting to stare at the super-happy baby in a super-slow cart). I'm thinking about getting one of those cart covers to keep her little hands away from all the
germs, and I suppose after just reading that link that I probably will. Yuck! Wal-Mart sells a cute shopping cart cover that I just happened to find this afternoon...
I have my ladies' Bible study tonight right after dinner at church. Stephen is looking forward to spending some one-on-one time with Mary while I'm gone. She loves being with her daddy! She's taking a nap right now, but I think I hear her starting to wake up, so I better get going. Can you believe it's already Thursday?! Have a happy weekend!
