Travel Day

Sorry, I know it's been a while since the last post... let's see... not much new has happened, except that somehow I've been very busy lately. Mary is doing very well, rolling around all over the place. Not crawling yet, but close I think. The other night we went over to Stephen's parents' house for dinner. The men were in charge of playing with the baby while the women cooked. I went back to check on Mary and I found her in a tub of toys! Stephen and his dad discovered the easiest way to keep a baby busy! Mary loved being in the toy tub (it was all of Stephen's old stuffed animals, so it was soft).

Today is a travel day. We'll be leaving in a couple hours to drive to Fulton to spend the weekend with my family in Mississippi. Travel days are pretty busy for me. I love coming home to a clean house, so in addition to packing for everyone (Stephen unpacks, I pack - wonderful arrangement) I try to get the house spotless (emphasis on "try," especially today). I had a lot of ironing to do this afternoon, so I just plopped Mary down on the floor to play with her new animal train (thanks again, Jamie!). While she was sitting there quietly and playing, I decided to give Mary her brand new sippy cup. It's a stainless steel model with a no-leak top, and it really doesn't leak. I know because our little girl by no means tried to drink from it, but she did roll it around and drop it a few times. No leaks! I tried to show her what to do, and I think she's catching on, but it might be a while before she's drinking water on her own. She's just not into putting things in her mouth, including any type of finger foods (having a little problem introducing those).

Ever heard of You Mail? It's a cell phone answering service that sends your voice mails to your email inbox - for FREE! Stephen set it up for us earlier this week, and we love it! I've always had an unexplainable aversion to checking voicemail and this is helping to curb that problem (since I love checking email). Just wanted to pass that along, it's pretty neat.

Oh, and if anyone is really interested in that broccoli casserole recipe that I posted no too long ago, I've got an update on it: You don't have to include the stick of butter and onions! (This update is really for my Dad and Monica, who have avoided this tasty treat because of its fattiness) Anyway, it tastes exactly the same sans butter and onions, so get cookin'!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
