The Pie!

It's done! Woo-hoo!

My Bible study got cancelled last night, so Stephen helped me make the apple pie for our social tonight at church. This is my very first homemade pie, and I must say, I absolutely loved making it (even the butter-grating... kind of)! I like using the wider pieces of dough for the lattice top; I think it makes it look more homey. The dough has little bits of butter baked in; this gives it the flaky effect (like a pie in a big crescent roll). Stephen read to me while I baked, and then he helped with the syrup mixture and fixed the lattice top for me. We won't know if it tastes good until tonight, but hopefully it will be acceptable. I still need work on my pie presentation (the edges look pretty funny), but right now I'm just happy that I didn't burn up the kitchen and the pie actually looks like a pie.
