Guess That Food

If you've been keeping up with our blog, you already know that we're making all of Mary's food at home with the help of a great little book called Super Baby Food. It's starting to get really "involved," and in order to make this good-for-you food work, I need to do a better job of being on a schedule. So... yesterday I began keeping a journal of how we spend our day. I write down her feedings, what she eats, how much, her naps, and bedtime. It's going very well so far. I can now tell the doctor (accurately) how many times a day I nurse my daughter (absolutely couldn't do that until I started writing it down).

Mary will be seven months old tomorrow (wow!), which means new foods can be introduced (and thoroughly documented). Tomorrow we're going to start tofu! Wait - stop gagging! It's going to be great! No, really. I've frozen up a month's worth of individual tofu servings, and tomorrow I'm going to mix it in with her rice cereal. It's supposed to be a big protein boost. Next week I think we'll try green beans, or maybe cottage cheese... not sure yet, will have to check the book.

Our family is having its picture made tonight for the church directory. I've never been in a church directory before, so I'm excited about it! Directories are not made very often, so of course I want everyone to look perfect for the picture. Well, I already know I'm not going to have time today to take another shower and fix my hair, so my 5 a.m. hair style will have to last until our appointment at 6:20 p.m. (fat chance). Mary usually goes to bed around 6 p.m., so staying up past her bedtime in a fancy dress she's never worn before will surely bring out a big smile, right? Oh, and Stephen? He'll be wearing a white shirt and green tie (to match his girls), which hopefully won't be splattered with food from our sandwiches that we plan to eat in the car on the way to the photo session. Oh yes, I'm sure this photo will be one to remember. Nonetheless, I'm still excited about our first professional family portrait!

Mary just woke up, better run. Have a great Tuesday!

Oh! The food on her face is avocado and sweet potato.
