New Hobby

We've been pretty busy around here lately. Monday we had a play-date in our church's indoor playground. It was the first time we had ever ventured into the play area, and it was so cool! Our church has two buildings: the sanctuary/worship center with classrooms, nursery, etc. (all the normal church stuff), and then we have a recreation center building with a chapel, gym, walking track, cafe, fellowship dining room, some more classrooms, and the oh-so-fun indoor playground. My picture really doesn't do it justice; it's huge and stocked full of fun stuff for kids. This playground puts every McDonald's Playland to shame! Indoor slides, what else do I have to say?! Anyway, Mary's friend is one month older and crawling everywhere. Mary wasn't much of a play partner since she's not really crawling much. Her first top tooth is also coming in, so she was really clingy that day, too. Not her best day, but I think she had a good time.
As far as crawling goes, she is getting much better! She can do a short series of "real" crawls on hands and knees, but then she flops down on her belly and gets around with her "army crawl." She can certainly move around, but it's still not pretty, and she can get frustrated at times (it's really cute, though).
I (Melody) have started a new hobby recently - sewing! (I suppose you could have guessed it was my new hobby and not Stephen's) I haven't figured out sleeves yet, so the projects can't get too complicated. I made the dresses that Mary is wearing in these pictures. Very easy t-shirt type dresses; I've made about 5 of them so far. I took an old onesie, cut it in half, and then sewed some fabric to make it a dress. I told you it was easy! The whole thing takes about 2 hours (I usually do it during Mary's nap time), but I'm sure I can do it faster once I really get the hang of it. It's a lot of fun, too! Stephen is really supportive of my new hobby, which makes it even better. He bought me a serger last weekend so I can make Mary's dresses look more professional and long-lasting. We set up a little sewing corner by the laundry room; I love it! I plan on making all of Mary's future dresses. Her birthday is coming up (April 19), and I've already decided to start a tradition of making her a special birthday dress every year! We bid on some really cute fabric on eBay, and we should find out in a few minutes if we won it. Lots of fun!
We hope you're having a good week.
Happy Purim!

The playground at church is one of our favorite places to go! It's nice in the winter when it's too cold to go outside! Those dresses are CUTE! Great job!!
